We did it! Tea is finally getting the emoji it deserves – and it’s coming this year. For decades, all us tea drinkers have had to represent our chosen brew is a little picture of green tea and a little picture of coffee. And those just don’t cut the mustard when you’re trying to say: “I’m having a brew.” Where’s the drink we know and love? The proper stuff, the one that’s the colour of He-Man. You know, tea. So we put a formal application together and sent it to the people who decide on new emoji – the Unicode Consortium.
We're changing from sealing our bags with oil-based plastic to a compostable plant-based material called PLA.
Some of our tea bags have been misbehaving. If it’s happened to you, we’re really, really sorry – here’s a bit of an explanation about why. Our tea bags were sealed with oil-based plastic – and we’re switching that to a renewable plant-based material which is much more environmentally friendly to dispose of. Yorkshire Gold has switched already and Yorkshire Tea is part way through.
It was the greatest tea delivery race of all time! Last week, we enlisted the help of the Brownlee brothers and Deliveroo to hand out almost 1,000 freshly brewed cups of tea.
Yorkshire’s favourite sporting siblings – Alastair and Jonny Brownlee – are keen to encourage more young people to get into sport.
